QIST Foundation — Community Standards & Participation Guidelines
Effective Date: 1 December 2025
1. Scope of These Standards
These Community Standards apply to participation in QIST Foundation ("QIST") community spaces, including events, workshops, working groups, contributor programs, newsletters, and other collaborative initiatives that QIST may organize or host.
These standards complement the QIST Terms of Use, Legal Disclaimer, and related legal documents. If there is any inconsistency, the Terms of Use and Legal Disclaimer will control.
2. Expected Conduct
Participants in QIST community spaces are expected to:
- Engage respectfully and professionally with others
- Focus discussion and collaboration on scientific, technical, and community-building goals
- Be honest and transparent about affiliations and relevant conflicts of interest
- Respect privacy and confidentiality where such expectations are clearly communicated
3. Unacceptable Conduct
QIST community spaces must not be used for harmful, disruptive, or unlawful behaviour. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Harassment, bullying, or targeted personal attacks
- Discrimination or hateful conduct based on legally protected characteristics
- Sharing malicious or intentionally misleading technical information that could cause harm if relied upon
- Promoting token sales, investment schemes, or financial products under the QIST name
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to systems or data, or encouraging others to do so
4. Contributions and Submissions
When you submit ideas, comments, documents, code, or other materials to QIST community spaces, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to share that material and that it does not violate the rights of others.
Unless a specific project or repository states different terms, contributions to QIST initiatives are provided on a voluntary basis and do not create an entitlement to compensation, employment, or formal collaboration. Intellectual property associated with open-source code will be governed by the license terms published for the relevant repository.
5. Moderation and Participation Decisions
QIST may, at its discretion, take reasonable steps to preserve a safe and constructive environment, including limiting or removing an individual's ability to participate in specific programs or community spaces where these standards are not followed.
Participation in QIST programs is not guaranteed, and QIST may decline or discontinue participation based on alignment with its mission, resource constraints, or other legitimate considerations.
6. Reporting Concerns
Concerns about conduct in QIST community spaces, or questions about these Standards, can be sent to:
contact@qist.foundation
7. Updates to These Standards
QIST may update these Community Standards over time as its programs and governance structures evolve. The Effective Date will be adjusted when material changes are made.
