QIST Foundation — Legal Disclaimer

Status: Unincorporated Global Research Initiative (Future Cayman Nonprofit Foundation)

1. Nature of the Organization

QIST Foundation ("QIST", "we", "our") is currently an independent, unincorporated global research initiative dedicated to advancing scientific work in quantum information science, secure computation, distributed intelligence, and interoperable technologies.

QIST is non-commercial, non-financial, and operates exclusively for research, education, and public-benefit scientific advancement.

QIST is in the process of preparing for future establishment as a nonprofit foundation entity in an international jurisdiction such as the Cayman Islands. Until formal incorporation occurs, QIST does not operate as a legal entity.

This legal disclaimer applies to QIST websites, subdomains, documentation, diagrams, research papers, articles, models, presentations, and any code samples or reference implementations that QIST publishes or links to from its official properties, unless a specific document states otherwise.

2. No Financial, Token, or Investment Activities

QIST Foundation:

  • Does NOT issue tokens
  • Does NOT operate a token sale
  • Does NOT engage in fundraising through digital assets
  • Does NOT provide investment advice
  • Does NOT manage, trade, stake, or transact in cryptocurrencies
  • Does NOT endorse, promote, or solicit investment in any token or digital asset
  • Does NOT provide financial services or facilitate financial transactions

Any blockchain protocols, tokens, networks, or smart contracts developed externally are not affiliated with QIST Foundation, unless explicitly stated in future formal documentation after legal incorporation.

QIST Foundation is not the issuer of any digital asset, now or in the future.

QIST.network or other independent ecosystems are separate technical entities not operated by the Foundation at this stage.

3. Research and Informational Purpose Only

All materials published by QIST — including articles, whitepapers, diagrams, standards drafts, research outputs, or educational content — are provided strictly for informational and scientific purposes.

They do not constitute:

  • Investment advice
  • Financial recommendations
  • Legal or tax guidance
  • Commercial solicitations
  • Commitments to build, deliver, or maintain any technology

Users must not treat any QIST content as a basis for financial decisions.

4. No Warranties or Guarantees

All QIST research, publications, diagrams, models, and conceptual materials are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

QIST makes no guarantees regarding:

  • Accuracy
  • Completeness
  • Performance
  • Suitability for real-world deployment
  • Safety or security of third-party implementations

Technologies discussed in QIST research may evolve, fail, or be superseded.

5. Independence From External Technologies

External technologies — including blockchains, decentralized networks, smart-contract systems, distributed infrastructures, AI systems, or cryptographic protocols — are not operated by QIST Foundation.

QIST does not:

  • Control external networks
  • Audit or warrant third-party smart contracts
  • Validate the behavior of decentralized systems
  • Oversee operational security of independent implementations

Any such technologies are operated by independent groups or entities.

6. No Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, QIST Foundation and its contributors disclaim all liability arising from or related to:

  • Use or misuse of research materials
  • Reliance on conceptual models
  • Deployment of third-party technologies
  • Errors or omissions in scientific publications
  • Losses in digital asset ecosystems
  • Security vulnerabilities in systems not operated by QIST

Users engage with research materials entirely at their own responsibility.

7. Future Incorporation Notice

Upon formal establishment of the QIST Foundation (Cayman), updated legal documents will define:

  • Governance structure
  • Scope of authority
  • Boundaries of engagement with open-source ecosystems
  • Liability limitations under Cayman nonprofit law
  • Rights and obligations of contributors

Until incorporation, all activities are non-binding, exploratory, and research-oriented.

8. Jurisdiction, Suitability, and Related Terms

QIST materials may not be appropriate or lawful in every jurisdiction. Users are responsible for ensuring that accessing or using QIST materials complies with the local laws, regulations, and institutional policies that apply to them.

This legal disclaimer operates together with any Terms of Use or similar policies published by QIST. If more specific terms apply to a particular service, document, or repository, those terms will govern in the event of a conflict.
